Be Relentless
For many youth in YOUCAN’s Road to Work program, job site tours are more than just a field trip, it’s an opportunity to envision what their future could look like.
At Delton Cabinets, those moments are made possible by Jason Siverns, Director of Operations and Customer Service, who continues to open his doors to YOUCAN Youth Services. Through these visits, Jason and his team are creating real-world experiences that go beyond observation.
In an industry built on skill and precision, Jason believes one of the most important things you can offer a young person isn’t experience, it’s a chance to see what their future could look like.
Jason’s own path into the trades wasn’t traditional. With a background in counselling and psychology, his early career focused on supporting youth and families through complex challenges. Over time, he found himself drawn to working with his hands, eventually completing his carpentry apprenticeship in his 30s.
That shift didn’t move him away from his passion for people. It gave him a new way to live it.
“Whether I was counselling or working with clients, it was always about people,” Jason shares. “I just found a different way to use those skills.”
Today, as Director of Operations at Delton Cabinets, that people-first mindset continues to shape how he leads. For Jason, success in the workplace isn’t just about technical ability. It’s about how people show up, how they communicate, and how they work alongside others. His experience has helped him build trust, navigate challenges, and create environments where people feel supported to grow.
That same approach is what makes his connection to YOUCAN such a natural fit. When youth walk through the doors at Delton Cabinets, they’re not treated as potential hires alone. They’re welcomed as individuals with stories. During these tours, youth are encouraged to ask questions, share their experiences, and speak openly about the paths that brought them there. It’s in these moments, when they feel seen, heard, and respected, that the greatest impact often happens.

For Jason, the work YOUCAN does goes far beyond training. It’s the consistency, care, and long-term support that stand out.
“They don’t just send someone out and forget about them,” he says. “They follow up. They check in. They want to know how they’re doing, not just at work, but in life.”
That level of support is what helps youth stay grounded, even when challenges arise. It’s also what inspires Jason and his team to continue showing up. From hosting job site tours to hiring graduates, attending events, and sharing YOUCAN’s mission with others, their commitment continues to grow.
And that impact doesn’t stop at the workplace. It reaches into the broader community.
"When businesses choose to give youth that chance, they’re not just filling positions. They’re helping shape futures. And for many young people, that’s where everything begins."
Give a young person a chance. It could change everything.
At YOUCAN, every young person deserves the chance to prove their potential. Be our next employment partner, and help youth who are ready and motivated to take their first step into the workforce.
Together, you help them build experience, confidence, and a future they can believe in. Because sometimes, one opportunity can change everything.
