About The Road to Work Program
The Road to Work Program helps youth gain the skills, certifications, and experience needed to start a career in construction, road work, and traffic safety, all while earning during training.
Through partnerships with industry employers, this program creates a direct path from training to employment.

What to Expect
- 7 weeks of hands-on training
- Monday to Friday, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm
- $15/hour living allowance
- Industry-recognized safety certifications
- Practical, job-ready skills
What Happens Next
After training, participants are supported in applying for jobs with YOUCAN’s industry partners.
Each participant is also connected with a Transitional Outreach Worker for ongoing support as they step into the workforce.
Program Requirements
- 18-25 years of age
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident eligible to work in Canada.
- Desire to start a career in the construction, road work, or traffic safety industries
- Ability to attend 7 consecutive weeks of training – Monday to Friday – 8:30am-4pm
- Ability to complete on-line trainings and in-class sessions
- A valid (non-graduated) Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving abstract is an asset
- Reliable transportation to and from work

- Pre-employment training
- Standard First Aid
