About POWER UP Program
POWER UP is a potential 19-week employment readiness program focused on helping young adults transition into careers in the energy sector.
The program includes:
- 2 weeks of in-house training
- 5 weeks of external certificate-based training with industry partners
- 12 weeks of follow-up support with an Employment Coach
The goal of POWER UP is to help young adults gain industry knowledge, safety certifications, workplace readiness skills, and direct connections to employers within Alberta’s energy industry.
Working closely with industry partners across Alberta, the program aims to help participants get their foot in the door of a growing and high-demand field.
Each intake is designed to support youth who are ready for physically demanding, schedule-based work and interested in building a long-term career path in the energy sector.

Career Pathways & Industries
Through POWER UP, youth may explore opportunities within Alberta’s energy and industrial sectors, including:
- Oil and gas support services
- Industrial labour positions
- Field and site support work
- Utility and infrastructure support
- Trades and apprenticeship pathways
- Energy sector operations

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants interested in joining the POWER UP waiting list should meet the following requirements:
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence (vehicle not required)
- Between 18-29 years old
- Ability to relocate within Alberta if needed
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs without strain
- Able to pass a drug test and general medical assessment
- Comfortable working rotating schedules (Example: 7 days on / 3 days off with 10+ hour shifts)
- Willing to work in various climates and seasons
- Previous energy sector experience is considered an asset, but is not required
